Ways of working

Turkish-speaking therapist in London and online

I am a Turkish-speaking integrative psychotherapist registered with the BACP, and I offer therapy in Turkish or English. Sessions take place in person in Farringdon, Central London, or online by secure video across the UK and internationally, so you can talk in the language that feels most natural to you.

Recognise this?

This may suit you if…

  • Turkish is your first language, or the language you feel most yourself in
  • Some feelings are easier to put into words in Turkish than in English
  • You would like to talk without having to translate yourself first
  • Memories of family, childhood or home are bound up with Turkish
  • You live between two languages and want space for both
  • You live outside London, or outside the UK, and would like to meet online

Therapy in Turkish or English

Sessions with me are available in Turkish or English. Some people know straight away which language they want to use; others are not sure, especially if they have lived in the UK for many years or grew up with both. We can talk about this in the initial consultation and decide together what feels right for you.

Whichever language you choose, therapy is a confidential space to talk about what is on your mind, at your own pace, with someone who listens carefully and without judgement.

Why language can matter in therapy

The language we first learned is often the one our earliest feelings and memories are stored in. Many people find that some experiences feel different, closer or more vivid, when they talk about them in their first language. Others find a second language gives them a little distance that makes difficult things easier to say. Neither is right or wrong, and it can change over time.

If you have ever felt that something gets lost when you explain yourself in English, or that you are always slightly translating, it may be worth considering therapy in Turkish. You can read more in my guide to therapy in your first language.

In person in Farringdon, or online wherever you are

My therapy room is in Farringdon, Central London, a few minutes from the Elizabeth line, Thameslink and Underground. You can read more about in-person therapy in London.

I also offer online therapy by secure video to adults across the UK and internationally. This can suit Turkish speakers living outside London, elsewhere in the UK or in another country, as well as people whose work or family life makes travelling difficult.

What we can work on

People come to therapy for many different reasons. I work with adults, individually and as couples, with difficulties including:
